About
A directory built for people who drink with curiosity
Small Batch Atlas maps Australia's independent breweries, wineries, distilleries, and cideries — the places worth going out of your way for.
How it started
Australia has one of the most exciting craft beverage scenes in the world. From inner-city microbreweries to vineyard cellar doors in the Adelaide Hills, small-run distilleries in Tasmania to cideries in the Yarra Valley, the breadth of what exists is extraordinary — and largely invisible to anyone not already in the know.
Most of these places are hard to find. A Google search turns up tourism aggregators, outdated review sites, and promotional content that tells you nothing useful. There was no single place to go if you wanted to plan a weekend around a wine trail, or find out which breweries near Ballarat were actually worth the detour.
Small Batch Atlas exists to fix that. It is an independent, editorially curated directory of Australian craft beverage producers — built not by an algorithm, but by someone who cares about the industry and thinks good venues deserve better infrastructure.
What is in the directory
The atlas covers breweries, wineries, distilleries, cideries, cellar doors, and taprooms across Australia. Every listing includes location, contact details, and venue type.
Venues can claim and manage their own listings through the producer portal, adding descriptions, opening hours, images, and upcoming events.
Editorial approach
The directory is editorially curated. Inclusion is based on a simple standard: does this venue have a genuine public presence and a real reason to visit? Producers that do not meet that bar are not listed.
Listings are not paid placements. Every venue appears on its own merits. Producers can claim their listing and enhance it with additional detail, but payment never influences inclusion or ranking.
The discovery trails — editorially curated routes connecting venues in a region — are selected for their quality, coherence, and usefulness as actual day-trip itineraries.
For venues
If your venue is listed, you can claim it and take control of your listing — update your description, add photos, post upcoming events and releases, and make sure visitors have accurate information before they arrive.
Basic claiming is free. Premium listings include additional features for producers that want more visibility on the platform.
